A remotely operated automated inspection system was installed on LRT Line 1 in Manila, The Philippines, close to Vito Cruz station.

This Line 1 is known for its high vibration levels of both the tracks and the viaduct structure. Due to a sustainable fear of structural damage of the viaduct, a continuous vibration monitoring was required.

The solar panel powered DEMS system continuously (24/7) monitors vibrations of the rails, sleepers and structure. Measurement data are transferred and monitored online in the offices in Belgium.

In case of a sudden change in behaviour of the track or viaduct structure, maintenance teams are automatically alerted in order to take necessary actions (speed reductions, rail grinding or others).
